South won this eagerly awaited contest with ease in the end, but not before North put up a spirited fight. North put South in to bat and some wayward bowling got South off to a strong start, with Lidstone cashing in nicely on the width offered by North. North clawed back into the game with good change bowling but Sam Taylor pressed the accelerator, with a quick fire 47 from just 37 balls faced.  Despite good spin bowling from Jack Pomeroy and Billy Gubb, North handed south a score of 196 which was possibly 40 more than they should have, had they tightened up on the bowling and fielding.

North began their reply in confident manner, and put on 45 for the first wicket at close to the required run rate. But clever use of spin in the critical mid-section of the innings curtailed North’s scoring, although by the 30 over mark, there was still an outside chance of an upset whilst Gubb and Windley were at the crease needing 9 an over to bring them home. However, a tight spell by Francis and a 3 over burst from Saturley which claimed the wicket of Gubb who was just starting to open up changed the game in Souths favour, and in the end North were hanging on to claim the losing draw.
